Berlin

The workshop will take place in Berlin. For those unfamiliar with the German capital, this page contains some links you might find useful before or during your stay.

  • General information about Berlin (including information about hotels and restaurants as well as a visitors guide in English) can be found at the official visitors site for Berlin.
  • Accommodation for speakers and commentators:
We arranged accommodation for speakers and commentators at the Humboldt University’s guest house, located at Ziegelstraße 13a.
  • Accommodation for visitors:
Berlin.de has a list of hotels and hostels. However, we recommend checking out this site which offers reasonably priced holiday apartments all over Berlin (best locations for the workshop are Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, though you might want to double check using the journey planner).
  • Getting around:
Many places in Berlin are far away from where you are (wherever your are). To find out exactly how far and how best to get there by public transport use the journey planner. A map that shows the location of the conference venue (the main building of the Humboldt University) can be found here.
  • Restaurants and Bars:
A list of restaurants and bars (most of them courtesy of Berlin aficionado Sven Rosenkranz) in the general area of the conference venue is available here.
  • Nightlife:
Available at local news stands, both Tip Berlin and Zitty have fortnightly listings of events, and also a searchable database on their webpages – unfortunately only in German. If you are looking for a Berlin magazine in English, try Exberliner .
